*Support What We Do at The Katz-Moses Store* https://lddy.no/stih
Toolsday Compact Router Review. They go by multiple names, trim router, compact router, laminate router, and today we put some of the most popular brands head to head to see which ones are worthy of purchase. I used and abused these routers and did a complete overview of some of the most important factors that should affect your buying decision. We spent a ton of time with each router and the results definitely surprised me. I make my high level recommendation at the end. As always, I have never and will never take money for paid reviews. These are tools I have purchased and tested extensively. Let me know what you’d like to see next. Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe. Cheers!

Just bought the Dewalt today, as I needed a detail router. My old craftsman router which I’ve had for 40 years still does a decent edging job. I have a feeling it’s going into the cabinet for a long vacation. Thanks for this video!

I started with the ryobi and still use it. I do have some issues after hard uses. Can't wait to upgrade. Thanks Josh for the full review.

The comment i was originally replying to seems to have disappeared. Deleted? Blocked? I don't know. First time viewer here. I don't know this guy from Adam. I have no knowledge of his stance on safety, only the flippant replies to suggestions that a router should be unplugged. And because of it, I don't care to watch his channel ever again. It's ridiculously cocky for no good reason. You're an online educator. Be the example.

Awesome comparison bro! But I think U r wrong about the Milwaukee. You are supposed to tighten that screw with the latch closed to a point where you cannot turn the micro adjustment knob. U have to release the latch to make the adjustment and lock into position by closing the latch.

Having never used a compact router, wondering why I would use one over a full sized? To me it seems like a gimmick. It’s not like it is a pistol that needs to be concealed 🙂

Sorry to here that the Milwaukee bits, second time that I am hearing that!!! I need a battery powered Router that has a lot of Accessories and I am going to use it for routing out sheathing when I build exterior wall, when I build our home, would you have any recommendation please??? Another guy did a You Tube video called "Switched to the M18 Fuel platform just for the Compact Router!!! IT SUCKS!!" And he torqued that nut and the casting CRACKED!!!

I've used the compact Ridgid corded Router for 4 years.
No problems, at least not the way I use it .
I've cut laminate, cut dadoes, made odd shaped cutouts.
I use mostly Whiteside router bits, a few Freud, Bosch, and no -name bits.
Recently I bought a larger D shaped base for it from Lee Valley which will take the LV guide bushings, tho' I do still use the original smaller bases at times.
    Overall, I'm happy with it.
Oh, and I have always unplugged the router whenever I change bits…. Every.Single.Time.

Your music seems silly to me. Woodworking is fun, I have a blast. But rarely do I feel that epic outside of finishing a project

I went with the Makita full kit, corded, no complaints. Things to consider, but are not issues, rather expected drawbacks of a compact router: can't go too deep in one pass, can't use too wide of a surfacing bit (1 inch max I would say, torque seems lacking with the 1 1/2), some hardwoods are slow to get through and I think may be pushing the limits of the tool.

Overall great first router, and I learned a lot about their use, now I know what to look for when I eventually get a full size one

Why did I choose the Makita? Two reasons, firstly the price was right and came with 4 different bases and an albeit cheap, effective guide. Secondly I wanted one that didn't have the best adjustment, but was still accurate, why? As a learning experience. Only by using a finicky tool will I truly appreciate and understand the need for the more advanced ones.

If you haven't bought one yet get the DeWalt

Corded and battery the lead in your way is a no go when there’s battery routers

Disappointed about the Ridgid. I love my Ridgid products. They've never leat me down, even being on the same batteries for the past 9 years! My impact, drill, saw, heck even my radio, they all work like I just bought them (they don't look that way though). I even had oil spill into my impact, cleaned it out and it still works great!

Does anyone else have other experiences with this Ridgid router?

Bright lights in your eyes when changing bits shouldn't be a problem if the tool is disconnected from the power supply. Safety first!!
